Our Ocean Conference 2025 Side Event: From Busan to Nice, a call to action for a Fossil-Free Ocean

The Center for International and Environmental Law, Solutions For Our Climate, and the Center for Energy, Ecology, and Development invite you to a side-event on the 28th of April from 14:30 - 16:00 (Room 216) at the 10th Our Oceans Conference in Busan, South Korea. 

The side event, titled, From Busan to Nice, a call to action for a Fossil-Free Ocean, aims to engage with leading experts to unpack the implications of offshore oil and gas in different regions and discuss key actions for a global transition to a Fossil Free Ocean . The session aims to spark actionable dialogue to halt ocean-damaging activities and reorient energy strategies toward a sustainable and responsible future.

This side event will launch a call to action for a “Fossil Free Ocean”, allowing an exchange of knowledge and experiences, inspiring actions for the conservation of the seas and oceans.

• Ms. Upasana Khatri (MODERATOR), Senior Attorney, Center for International Environmental Law - USA: will introduce the side event and topic with 5 slides

• Mr. Seokhwan Jeong (SPEAKER), Lead of Korea Gas Policy, Solutions for Our Climate - Korea

• Mr. Gerry Arances (SPEAKER), Executive Director, Center for Energy, Ecology, and Development (CEED) - Philippines

• Mr. Julián Medina Salgado (SPEAKER), small-scale artisanal fisherman from the Gulf of Morrosquillo, president of the National Fishing Network in Colombia, and member of the Board of Directors of the Latin American Union of Artisanal Fishing (ULAPA)

• Dr. Sivendra Michael (SPEAKER), Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, Fiji Government - Fiji
